PROVIDE PAIN MANAGEMENT – PUAEME008:
This course involves the skills and knowledge required to administer restricted analgesics to provide pain management . It includes identifying the need for analgesia; accessing, preparing and administering restricted pain relief such as aspirin, ibuprofen, paracetamol, methoxyflurane (commonly referred to as the “green whistle”); accessing, preparing and administering restricted pain relief such as analgesics according to medically endorsed protocols; performing casualty handovers and completing analgesic use requirements.
DURATION:
3 hours face to face classroom training and assessment
COURSE CONTENT:
You will learn how to:
- Identify need for analgesia
- Access and prepare analgesics such as Paracetamol, Asprin, Ibuprofen, Methoxyflurane and Entanox
- Administer analgesic
- Perform casualty handover
- Complete analgesic use requirements
PREREQUISITES:
You must hold a current HLTAID011 Provide first aid certification. Participants MUST research the legalities relating to the carrying and use of methoxyflurane in their own state / territory. Participants will need oral communication skills in order to make an accurate verbal report to emergency services and workplace supervisor and it is recommended that participants have language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to level 2 of the National Reporting System.
ASSESSMENT METHODS:
Progressive assessment throughout the course, including demonstration of practical skills and written and oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge.
AWARD ISSUED:
A nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued from our Training Partner – Business Wise First Aid Training RTO 45193 to all successful participants.
Certificate is valid for 12months from date of completion. Annual renewal is required.
