Course Content
The advanced first aid course gives you the additional training you need to respond to many more complicated medical conditions and situations. This course is the most comprehensive qualification in first aid available to the general public. Our HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid course is accredited and nationally recognised and are fully in line with the guidelines of the The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC), Safe Work Australia, the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA), and various other national peak clinical bodies.
DURATION:
6 hours face to face classroom training and assessment
COURSE CONTENT:
This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to handle several different emergency situations.
IT INCLUDES:
- Taking and assessing vital signs, including normal clinical values (respiration, temperature, pulse, level of consciousness)
- Secondary assessments
- Basic triage processes
- First aid procedures for the aged, elderly or infirm
- First aid procedures for major and minor workplace accidents
- First aid procedures for children
- Use of ancillary first aid equipment and coordination of resources
- Advanced first aid management for abdominal injuries
- Allergic reaction
- Anaphylaxis
- Asthma
- Non-life-threatening bleeding
- Life-threatening bleeding
- Burns
- Cardiac conditions, including chest pain
- Advanced first aid management for childbirth
- Choking
- Crush injuries
- Diabetes
- Drowning
- Ear injuries, including bleeding from the ear
- Envenomation
- Eye injuries
- Fractures
- Dislocations
- Sprains
- Strains
- Head injuries
- Neck injuries
- Spinal injuries

PREREQUISITES:
There are no prerequisite units. Participants will need oral communication skills in order to make an accurate verbal report to emergency services and workplace supervisor and it is recommended that participants have language, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to level 2 of the National Reporting System.
ASSESSMENT METHODS:
Progressive assessment throughout the course, including demonstration of practical skills and written and oral questions relating to underpinning knowledge.
AWARD ISSUED:
A nationally-recognised Statement of Attainment will be issued from our Training Partner – Business Wise First Aid Training RTO 45193 to all successful participants.
Certificate is valid for 3 years from date of completion. Annual renewal of CPR certification is recommended.
